Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) in England and Wales require private rented residential and commercial buildings to have a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E.  It is illegal to rent properties rated F or G unless there is valid exemption.

PAS 2035 is the British standard for the energy-efficient retrofitting of domestic buildings, a framework for designing and delivering improvements to ensure compliance to expected quality referring to a whole building’s performance.

EPC C by 2030 is a UK government policy requiring all privately rented homes in England and Wales to achieve at least an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C rating by 1 October 2030 to be legally let in a bid to reduce fuel poverty.
