A Retrofit Coordinator oversees and manages the implementation of energy efficiency upgrades in homes. The Retrofit Coordinator ensure compliance with building codes and standards, manage project timelines and budgets, coordinate with stakeholders, and promote sustainable retrofitting practices to achieve optimal environmental and economic outcomes for the installer and, most importantly, the resident.
The Retrofit Coordinator must have passed their Level 5 diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management and be registered with Trustmark.
The Retrofit Coordinator ensures the PAS2035 process has been followed at all stages of the project, from assessment through to installation. Once they are satisfied the project can get lodged with Trustmark.
The Retrofit Coordinator therefore plays a key role in ensuring all project stakeholders are informed throughout the project. At handover the Retrofit Coordinator provides the resident with all necessary information regarding the installed measures and how to get the most from the energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades.

A good Retrofit Coordinator works with the Installer to identify the right energy efficiency measures not only for the house but for the residents who live in the property. The Coordinator will identify and communicate where there are remedial works required before install can begin including damp, mould and condensation. A good coordinator in uncompromising in their standards and ensures that the process is followed fully and at all times to ensure a high quality install that can be lodged with Trustmark without issue or comeback.
All publicly funded home energy efficiency projects must follow the PAS2035 process. This process sets out the requirements for a Retrofit Assessment, PAS2030 or MCS qualified installers depending on the measures installed, and qualified Retrofit Coordinators to audit the process and lodge the install with the Trustmark Data Warehouse. Examples of funding that this applies to include ECO4, the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, and any Local Authority or Social Housing funded domestic retrofit programmes.
