Cyd Innovation Becomes a Certified B Corp and Social Enterprise

Cyd Innovation Becomes a Certified B Corp and Social Enterprise
We’re very proud to report that Cyd Innovation has achieved our B Corp certification, becoming one of only 48 Welsh B Corps! We’ve also been recognised as a Certified Social Enterprise all within the same two weeks!
Two huge milestones for the Cyd Innovation family. Both achievements aren't just badges of recognition, but proof of our values. Our purpose and further fuel to the positive future Cyd Innovation is striving to build.
Becoming a Certified B Corp – Holding Ourselves to Higher Standards

For us, becoming a registered B Corp was never about chasing another credential. It was about holding ourselves to the highest possible standards we help our clients reach, and the communities we’re involved in, thrive under. We want to measure each part of our organisational input against the principles we believe in, to ensure a better future.
Earning this certification puts Cyd Innovation among a global community of purpose-driven companies committed to using business as a force for good. Our verified B Impact Score of 98.1 sits 18 points above the certification threshold, well beyond the average business score of 50.9.
From Values To Certification
To achieve certified B Corporation status, we actively scrutinise, measure, and document every aspect of our operations. From governance and ethical policies to the initiatives we organise to serve our communities, showcasing their positive, widespread impact. This rigorous process ensures the highest standards and provides clear justification for our B Corp certification.
B Corp certification is assessed across five key areas. Each with its own set of questions and evidencing requirements, which are reviewed in three stages by the independent third-party body, B Lab.
Below, we highlight just a few of our proudest achievements from each of these sections, demonstrating our commitment and impact.

1. Governance
Cyd Innovation legally protects its mission through a mission lock, ensuring that social and environmental impact guides every decision we make. We actively engage all stakeholders, and we publish evidence of those decisions in our annual and quarterly social and environmental reports, maintaining transparency as we continuously improve.
2. Our Team
Every team member earns a Real Living Wage, alongside accessibility to counselling and financial advice, and receives funded opportunities for growth. We’ve built flexibility into our working model to give people autonomy and balance. We’re dedicated to building a family of driven individuals with a shared goal of creating real, lasting impact. This all starts at home, with a confident, and equipped team.
72% of our staff have already received externally accredited training this year. Ensuring a confident, and equipped team to deliver on our promises, instilling transparency in our work.
3. Community
We’re proudly Welsh-owned and rooted in our local economy. We passionately advocate as much money is retained within the Welsh economy. Additionally, our initiatives consist of hiring locally, partnering with regional suppliers, and reinvesting 1% of our revenue into socially impactful causes. Some of our more recent causes including sponsoring the MSparc Eco-house project, an educational tool traveling to Welsh schools to teach students about retrofit and renewable energy. Encouraging widespread skill development, and further education.
4. Environment
We actively promote sustainable work practices both in office and in employees' homes, supported by written policies encouraging recycling, energy efficiency and responsible disposal of e-waste and hazardous materials. Our work from home policy further reduces commuting emissions.
5. Customers
Cyd Innovation’s mission is to tackle fuel poverty through simplifying the path to warm healthy homes for all. We are proud to offer reduced rates for social housing providers, extending the reach of our impact to those who need it most. We also uphold the highest standards of integrity through written policies on ethical marketing, advertising, and customer engagement, ensuring transparency and fairness in every interaction.
In an area where one in four households are estimated to live in fuel poverty, this mission feels personal to us. Many of our team live in the same communities facing these challenges, so we see the impact of cold, inefficient homes every winter, and we know the difference that warmth and security can make to someone's wellbeing. That's exactly why we’ve built Cyd Innovation around people, not projects. Tackling fuel poverty isn't about upgrading homes, but improving health and wellbeing, giving communities control over their future, with a little push from us.
For us, achieving B Corp certification is about deepening our social value commitments and holding ourselves to the same principles we advocate for in our work for others. This third-party accreditation means we don't just talk about change, we make it.

Becoming a Certified Social Enterprise: Putting Purpose Before Profit

Alongside B Corp certification, we’re now officially recognised as a Certified Social Enterprise. This recognition reflects what’s been at our heart since day one: helping organisations embed purpose into how they operate. Ensuring, real, lasting impact.
Every project we embark on aims to create long-term change. We champion knowledge sharing and support a skilled, educated workforce working toward a shared vision:
“Healthy, warm, energy-efficient homes for all”
At Cyd Innovation, we believe commercial strength and social purpose don’t compete, but complement each other. Success, to us, is visible in the communities around us, and the result of growth from our input.
Our work with local schools is just one example. Seeing the impact our educational sessions have on students is palpable, from encouraging students to think about their future and helping with CVs and personal statements, to championing the green industry at career events. If we want to leave a lasting impact on our communities and address the green skills gap, we must continue to empower young people.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, these certifications challenge us to evidence our progress and hold ourselves accountable and we are committed to using them to drive continual improvement for true lasting impact.
We see these certifications as a springboard for the good we strive to continue to create. Cyd Innovation are proud to join a powerful network of like-minded organisations that share our belief in doing business differently.
To our clients, partners, and the wider community, thank you for being part of this journey!
