Cyd Innovation Celebrates Prestigious Award Win in Its First Year

A proud North Wales-based start-up that’s helping businesses become part of the solution to growing concerns of the climate crisis has been recognised with a major accolade. Only months after launching. Cyd Innovation, headquartered in Holywell, was named Start-Up Business of the Year at the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Recognition Awards. The ceremony, held at Chester Racecourse Pavilion on Friday, November 12, marked the Chamber’s 100th anniversary.

Excellence In Sustainability

In addition to taking home one of the evening’s top honours, Cyd Innovation was also a finalist in the Excellence in Sustainability category, highlighting its commitment to creating a greener, fairer future for Wales. Born from a bold vision to empower Welsh businesses to lead the way in tackling societal and economic challenges within the industry, Cyd work across sector like housing, construction, and manufacturing. The company helps organisations become more competitive, more productive, and more sustainable, creating jobs while reducing environmental impact.

Accepting the award, Managing Director Steven Reynolds said:

“We’re thrilled to receive this recognition. It’s a testament to the passion and dedication of Cyd and the family behind it, to the belief that local solutions can drive real change. Businesses want to see their communities thrive and they want to be part of a widespread solution. We’re here to help make that happen.”

“We’re committed to working with businesses of all sizes who share our vision. Using their success to create jobs, support communities, and reduce environmental impact across the supply chain… “The Welsh Government is investing heavily in making homes more energy efficient and local supply chains often miss out on the opportunity to deliver. We want to change that. We want to ensure Welsh businesses are ready to compete and deliver value for money. “

Debbie Bryce, Chief Executive of the Chamber, praised the company’s achievements:

“Huge congratulations to Cyd Innovation for winning the Start-Up Business of the Year Award at our Annual Recognition Awards”

“Steven has shown incredible passion for tackling the climate emergency and has demonstrated a clear vision for future growth. We look forward to supporting Cyd Innovation going forward!”

Cyd Innovation is already making waves. The company is partnering with social housing providers and local authorities to help decarbonise housing stock. An urgent priority, as UK homes currently account for 20% of national CO₂ emissions.

A New Business Scope

The company is also targeting the Welsh Food and Drink Sector which the Welsh Government wants to grow from £5bn to £7bn in value per year.

Without industry-wide change in how the sector produces and delivers its products, this growth will lead to a significant increase in emissions and waste.

The industry overall lags behind English and European manufacturers in the uptake of digital technologies and Cyd Innovation is working across the supply chain to help change this. It is hoping to enable the targeted growth while reducing waste and CO2 output.
