Grŵp Cynefin Retrofit FAQs

Where does the funding come from?

The grant funding is provided from the Welsh Government through the Optimised Retrofit Programme (ORP).

What improvements can I expect?

The ORP scheme can fund insulation, heating improvements such as Air Source Heat Pumps, modern High Heat Retention Storage Heaters, Solar Panels as well as more innovative measures that we are keen to test.

What about decorating?

No decorating costs are covered by the programme and any decorating that is needed as a result of any work carried out will not be met by the programme.

How long does the process take?

Now that the programme is up and running, from receiving applications through to work being completed should be no longer than six weeks – dependent on the weather in the case of solid wall insulation.

What happens once I’ve had an assessment?

Once you have had a Retrofit Assessment, Wall-Lag (the installers) will carry out a Technical Survey to measure and cost the works. Subject to being approved by Grŵp Cynefin you will then receive a letter notifying you of the intended install date.

Can I get Solar Photo-voltaics (PV panels)?

The funding allows for Solar Panels on suitable properties. This will be based on orientation and size of the roof. Whether the roof is shaded will also be considered.

Who is running the project and doing the installs?

Two Flintshire companies are delivering the project for Grŵp Cynefin. Cyd Innovation (Holywell) are the Project Managers and are carrying out the technical and compliance aspects of the project. Wall-Lag (Mold) were successful in a competitive tender process and will manage the installations.

Where can I find out more?

How long will the scheme be around for?

The  scheme is running throughout 2023 but the funding is allocated on a first come first served basis
